Play along

Tab Player

Drop in any Guitar Pro file and you've got a band that plays at your tempo and never gets tired of repeating the hard part.

  • Slow it down to your tempo, and work your way up
  • Loop the tough bars until they sit under your fingers
  • Solo your part to hear it, or mute it and play it yourself with the band
  • Read tab or standard notation, whichever you think in
  • Turn a loop into an exercise and give it a target tempo

Train your timing

Metronome

A metronome that does more than count. It pushes your tempo up while you play, and checks whether your time holds when the click goes quiet.

  • Tempo ramp raises the tempo step by step until you hit your target
  • Skip notes drops random beats. You find out fast whether you can hold time on your own
  • Accents where you want them, and subdivisions in between
  • Play to a drum groove when you've had enough of the click
  • Tap your tempo in, and save your setups as presets
An exercise cut from a tab, practiced at 196 of its 212 BPM, with a chart of every take climbing towards the target

Chase your tempo

Exercises

That lick you can almost play? Make it an exercise, give it a target tempo, and chase it.

  • Take the bars you keep botching straight from a tab
  • Or build your own: chord changes, scales and modes, or just a click for the thing you're drilling
  • Rate each take, by foot pedal if you like, so your hands stay on the guitar
  • Your progress chart shows every take against your target, so you see yourself getting faster
A routine running: the first of its five exercises, a chord change, and the routine's exercises with their minutes

Your daily session

Routines

Stop wondering what to practice today. Line up your exercises, give each one a few minutes, and press Play.

  • Every exercise gets its own timer. Stop to retune, and the clock waits for you
  • When the time is up, rate it and you're straight into the next one
  • At the end, a summary of your session: how long you played, and how close you got to each target
E Dorian across the fretboard in Drop D, every note coloured by its degree, and the chords that fit the scale

Know the neck

Scales

See where the notes are, across the whole fretboard, in the tuning you actually play in.

  • Scales and modes, for when the minor pentatonic isn't enough anymore
  • In your tuning, so the shapes are right when you're not in Standard
  • Learn it box by box, then connect the positions up the neck
  • Hear it before you play it
  • See which chords fit the scale, and jam over them
The chord book with D major picked: its fingering, its notes and other voicings up the neck

Your chord book

Chords

Look up any chord, hear it, and see where your fingers go.

  • Fingerings from your first open chords to the jazz ones
  • Hear it strummed or as an arpeggio, and try other voicings up the neck
  • Progressions from songs you know, in any key
  • Build your own progression, loop it and jam over it
  • Struggling with a change? Save it as an exercise and drill it
The Progress screen: this week's practice time, the days in a row, the time per day and a calendar of the last twelve months

Watch it add up

Progress

Every minute with the guitar counts, and TabTunix keeps count. See how much you played, what you spent it on, and where you got faster.

  • Your practice time, day by day, over a week, a month or a year
  • Your streak: the days in a row you picked up the guitar
  • A calendar of your year, with a square for every day you played
  • Where the time went: tabs, exercises, the metronome or chords
  • The exercises that got faster, and the targets you reached
